When Jason showed me this clip a few weeks ago, I could not stop laughing! For me, a good laugh is some good medicine!
Friday was Lincoln's Annual Jog-a-thon. Malia ran 15 laps. Jared ran 12. Derek was so happy to get a visitor sticker from the office. He also has taken a liking to Jared's baseball cap. Because Jared and Malia ran at separate times, we made two trips to the school. Two trips, two different caps. :) Ah, the benefits of working out! More good medicine! Watching my kids tire themselves out, and excel, also good medicine.
I didn't put her hair ties in tightly enough, she lost them as she was running!
Makayla is needing some good medicine for her toe. Two weeks ago she got her foot trompled during a game. It's giving her a hard time right now.
It probably didn't help that she was on her feet for about 6 hours yesterday. She was at her game at 8:30am to warm-up, then went straight to the field where she was referreeing from 10:30am-about 3pm.
Watching her take extra responsibilities was bittersweet medicine for me. Having a job is good medicine for any feelings of entitlement, but it also further demonstrates how grown up she's getting, which is exciting, yet sad, I don't know what to do with an almost 13 year old...
This was a good reminder for me today... I have been struggling with Jared's behavior and attitude lately.
Not only have I been struggling with his behavior and attitude, but I have been struggling with my reaction/handling of it. I've been failing miserably.
What good medicine is the gospel! For me repentance is a daily, unfortunately could be an hourly occurence...I hope I can learn from my failures, and find the strength to look to my Savior to help me handle his behavior in a more Christlike manner, when I am weak, so that I will not give in to responding angrily. I don't want to regret any more than I already do. I am so eternally grateful to my Savior, who allows me to find hope as I apply His atonement in my life! I hope I can qualify to call upon His grace, His enabling power, to be able to overcome my temper with a more peaceful quality.

Great job Malia and Jared! Makayla your toe looks so awful! I have to wonder how such a cutie can have such an ugly looking toe?! :) You look very official and amazingly stylish in your uniform!! Guess when you are so dang cute everything looks good! What's not to love about baseball caps - especially a Yankees one? :) I refuse to believe that my sweet handsome Jared is acting up - NO WAY!! Grandma loves you all!
It's wonderful to see how active you all are in sports and everything! Makayla does look so grown up and professional! Not to mention cute as ever! Sorry about your struggles with Jared. And totally can relate!! Seven was an ESPECIALLY challenging year with Ethan. Eight got better. I won't even talk about nine. :/ Seems like Grandma said she read somewhere that the odd years are the hardest ones with boys. And it's held true for my boys so far. It will be fun to get them together this summer! :)
