Back to school night, part 1

Thursday night was Malia's Back to school night. At first I was a little sad that Makayla's isn't until next Thursday. But when I finally realized that Makayla had Acheivement Day at 7pm, Malia had soccer practice from 5-6, and back to School night was from 6:30-7:30, it worked out okay. Malia got to spend some one on one time with her Dad, and Makayla didn't miss her activity. I was still sad to miss seeing Malia perform, but I'm glad that Jason was able to enjoy it. (P.S. Jason wasn't going to take the camera, even after I asked. I hope you don't mind Mom Hatt that I said you'd want to see pictures...of course THEN he took the camera :))
They have a picture of each of the kids up in the halls. Beside it each child wrote what their dream is for what they'll do as a grown up. Malia wrote that her dream is to be a soccer coach. Makayla wrote that her dream is to be a physical therapist or a Mom. :) It was interesting. On the way to school the other day Makayla was relating to me a conversation she had with one of her friends. She told him she couldn't be a doctor, because she couldn't stand all the blood, or having to cut people open. Her friend agreed. She then told him she wanted to stay home with her kids. I smiled. But then it seemed that she felt that she didn't need to think about having a career, if she was going to stay home with her kids. I hope you don't mind Nat and Katie, I used you both as examples. That you first received nursing and education degrees and did have a career for a time before you were able to stay home with your children, and what a great blessing it is that you have the skills you do, which you still use as a Mom. I told her that although I have a degree too, I regret not having pursued something I could have as a career.
So thank you again for being such good and loving role models! Our conversation definitely gave Makayla something to think about.

What a fun post!! THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE CAMERA JASON! I loved being able to see Malia's art work on the walls. Great work, Malia! I especially loved the kids riding on the school bus! Very cute and creative! I think your soccer team must be the orange team - but what is your team's name? Sounds like the lazy days of summer are definitely over and life is back into FULL swing for all of you! :)

Thank you Jason for taking the camera!!! AUnt Natalie and cousin Kennedy LOVE to see pictures of all the cute kids. I don't mind you talking about me at all. I am glad that I could be used as a good example and not a bad one. I am thankful that Makayla has such ambitions. I definitely loved nursing, but I love being a Mom more. I am so grateful that I am able to use my nursing degree on a daily basis. It's nice to be able to take care of my own little ones now.

Can I just say ditto to everyone. We always love to see pictures! And I'm happy to be able to be an example. I love being a teacher and a mom. There's nothing more important I could do now than teach my own family. Makayla will be a great mom one day because she is great at everything she does.

I love your blog! Thanks for inviting me. Can I put a link to yours from mine. You can link mine if you want too. I'm playing catch-up right now so maybe I'll have more posts later. My sister took pictures of the kids this weekend and I put them up just now. We had a lot of fun on friday, let's do it again sometime soon, maybe this week.

What smart and cute girls! Sounds like Makayla has her "head on straight." Being a Mom is the best! Sounds like your schedule is packed! I'm realizing how fast time flies once your kids get into school!
