Oddments

I learned a new word today. Oddment. It means leftover, remnant or in the plural form, odds and ends. This post has a plethora of them! :) I love words!!

Malia recently had her 100th day of school. She loved all the yummy treats, and seeing all of the kids' collections of 100 things. She also enjoyed the little rub ons for her hand that read, "I'm 100 days smarter", she brought one home for Jared.
Derek helping me get ready for church yesterday. I'm so pleased to say, we didn't have to leave the chapel! After complaining to my Dad last week about being at my wits' end, I decided I needed to take more initiative, and try some new things. Hopefully they'll keep working!
Makayla wanted me to curl her hair yesterday, but I haven't sat down to read the instructions yet for my curling iron (it's more like a round brush with heat vents, where you can change the type of head, soft bristles versus plastic ones...pretty pathetic, I know, it's a curling iron for pete's sake...I should be able to figure it out on my own!), so she settled for flat ironing her hair. To my dismay she looked WAY too grown up! And I'm afraid I've started an obsession...

Malia also lost another tooth at school on Friday! Sadly last night, Malia had a fever and stayed home from school today. (Naturally it wasn't noticed until AFTER we went to church, had the missionaries over for dinner, had a visit from out home teachers... GRRR...) She's had a cough for a little while, but other than that seemed pretty normal. Jared loved her company today, and I must admit I was able to do some serious catching up on a lot of invisible work as a result. She read to him, and played games with him, and by around one o'clock was having a VERY hard time limiting herself to restful activities. Poor sweetie. We're hoping to be back at school tomorrow!

What cuties! Glad church went a bit better for you this week! :) Hang in there!! Makayla did look so grown up! She is a lot of fun and really good company these days! If Malia loses very many more teeth she might have a hard time eating!! Hope she is growing them in quickly!!
Does Jared still love his dinosaurs?

Ah, there's always something fun happening around your house. Don't you just feel exhausted after wrestling the kids through Sacrament meeting... Halle thinks I'm her personal jungle gym.

My suggestion... I have a separate church bag with special things in it that we only use/read/play with at church. It makes Sacrament meeting a little more special.

Hopefully after today Sunday's will be a bit easier for you! Having another set of hands always helps. :-) Brooke Davis told me that she rarely brings anything to church for her kids and that they tend to do better. I have started that and it does seem to help. Sometimes they can bring some blank paper and a pen but nothing more. Fewer things for them to fight over! I thought for sure church would be impossible without a huge bag of stuff but it seems easier with nothing! My kids are older so that makes a difference too.

Makayla looks gorgeous! And don't feel bad about not knowing how to use a curling iron- I wouldn't know either! I guess that's one good thing about not having a girl :-) I hope Malia feels better very soon! And hopefully you will be getting more help with the kids during sacrament meeting with Jason's release! That will make a world of difference!
