Too Much Stuff

I remember before Nat, Bri, Kennedy and Nate moved to Japan reading a post where she said something to the effect of sorting, trashing, and organizing summed up her life those days...I get it now!! Over the past year, and last few weeks especially, we have donated TONS, filled up our garbage can, and gargantuan recycle bin several times, taken a trip to a scrap metal recycle place, boxed up TONS and yet we still have stuff. How did all of that fit in our little house?! Jason and I joke, we must be great space utilizers. Why did we even have all of that?!! I guess that's what happens when you live in one place for 6 1/2 years, and add two more children to the mix since you bought the house. It's amazing how much easier it's getting to remove sentiment from stuff, and get rid of it!!

It's also amazing how this whole process is analogous to my spirituality, and how liberating it is to let go of those things that are holding me back from progressing, that are just taking up room, and I don't need. But both processes are very hard work! They both try me, and I don't always pass the test. :( I guess I just gotta learn from my mistakes, keep trying, and never give up! Hope through the Atonement, right?
We're growing some Cougar fans! :) Yes, we're a little behind the rest of the Hatt family in this regard. ;) They really enjoyed eating dinner on the couch while watching the boys on Saturday, and are looking forward to tonight! Jared, Derek and I enjoyed sporting our cougar shirts and sweater to get in the spirit!
Well, the boys decided Saturday night to sit in the fish tank and empty about 14 gallons of water on the carpet, their clothes, in the two other bedrooms, and their sisters' beds while Jason and I were working on stuff for church.
The next morning, they decided to pour baby powder all over the hallway, bathroom, and bedrooms.
Today I was realizing, as I was failing miserably in the patience department with my kids, that I need to be better about applying Elder Worthlin's advice, "Come what may, and love it". It's the loving it part that I really struggle with. Ha, ha. That's the whole point isn't it? Like I said, I'm a work in progress.

The girls have also started practices for spring soccer and Jared will be starting t-ball next week. The girls' first games will be on April 2nd. Jared's first game will be I think on the 9th.

I think it will be good for the kiddos to have a creative outlet for all of their pent up energy!

Now I just gotta find a creative outlet for all of my pent up energy! :) What am I saying? Trying to keep up with the kids zaps all of my energy! I guess I need to find a healthy way to obtain more energy! :)

Some day you will be able to look back on all this and laugh - just not for a while. Maybe not until they have their own kids pulling these patience trying tricks!! :)

OH MY! I am sitting here trying to picture 2 boys in a fish tank! That would definitely try my patience! I thought my girls were busy but that is one they have never tried. We don't have a fish tank though... LOL

great post! I'm really wishing I could "come what may and love it" and have more energy right now, too. I think you have more patience than I do! It would be hard to deal with a spilled fish tank and baby powder in one weekend and not get upset.

Oh man! How do kids know just what to do to try our patience the most!? Sometimes they drive you so crazy. Good thing they are so cute and so sweet!
