Hair by Makayla
Gotta love the hours of entertainment sidewalk chalk provides!
Malia's spring fashion statement
Makayla is quite taken with this sweater of Jason's. She says it smells good, just like her Daddy.
Poor Derek's forehead collided with our half taken apart trampoline. The next day he dragged a chair to our kitchen counter. He slipped and smacked his mouth on the counter.
Makayla really wanted to frost and decorate Jason's cake. I was glad to oblige! True to Hatt tradition, we spread the celebrating over a few days. We had cake, and a special birthday dinner a few days early. The ladies at his office felt so badly for missing his birthday, they'll do something special tomorrow. Yesterday, his official birthday, was pretty hectic! Malia had practice from 4-5. Jared had to be at All-Sports park for his first t-ball game at 5:15, and Makayla had practice across town at 5:30! Quick back to J-boy's game, and at 6:30 headed back to pick up Makayla. Fortunately Jason got to be at the game for the entire time. When everything was done around 7pm, we ate dinner, had a super-speedy FHE, and present opening, then I headed off to clean at Kid Zone.
I was sad to see the butterflies I stenciled on the walls of the girls' room go. Makayla seems to have outgrown them, and we figured, they'd probably need to go soon anyway. Who'd of thought a ladder was such a fun play house?
Jared felt so grown-up this morning wearing his t-ball hat like Auntie Shel's boyfriend, Tony!
Earlier in the day yesterday we were running around getting his gear together. It wasn't until Saturday that I knew exactly which color pants to get. True to Hatt form, he has pants that fit well lengthwise, and all but fell off him around the waist. I'm new to the baseball belt adjusting, and the poor boy spent the entire game trying to keep his pants from dropping to the floor. We'll get that taken care of before Saturday.
I'm sad I'll miss all of the kids' games! I'm really excited to see my family though, and spend some extra time with my Mom and sisters!
Jason and I have some instructing in the how to's of the game. He would lob the ball underhand, about halfway to the person he intended, and when he was on the pitcher's mound he watched the ball roll past him. But that's pretty typical for t-ball, especially the first game, and having had only one practice prior. It was very entertaining to watch. It looked like he was having fun. I'm sure he'll get the hang of it with time and practice!
Jared was sweet to let his brother wear his hat. Jared is a Yankee. Malia's soccer team name is the Ducks, and Makayla's team name is the Ice-breaking Ninjas. We thought it was a very cool coincidence that both Jared and Makayla ended up with 4 on their jersies!
Makayla's game Saturday is in Medford. She's getting a ride with her coach, Kelly, and her daughter. I'm so sad that neither Jason nor I will be able to be there. Malia's game is here in town at 2, and Makayla's game is in Medford at 3, but she's supposed to be there at 2:30.
When my Mom asked if I wanted to go again in April to Time Out for Women back in Nov. (this time it's in CA) I totally forgot about all of the spring sporting events!
Another hiccup in our plans! We'll have to get this problem in our bathroom floor fixed right away! Although awhile back Jason and I entertained the thought of updating our bathroom flooring, we decided that we would pass. Well, looks like another decision got made for us! Yes, the joys of being home owners, or as my mom says, "living the American dream"!
