Lower Table Rock Field Trip

Yesterday I had the treat of being one of the chaperones for the Eagle Hall hike to Table Rock. Elisha, you're an angel for watching my two little guys ALL DAY!! I owe you BIG time!! Makayla and I definitely needed a little one on one time! It was neat to see her and some of her friends in her school setting. It was wonderful to be reminded that she's such a great young lady, and very fun!!

Although both Malia and Makayla's classes were part of the excursion, the 1st & 2nd grades went to the Upper Table Rock, while the 3rd,4th,& 5th grades went to the Lower Table Rock. I didn't realize that when I signed up to be a chaperone. It all worked out, and it sounded like Malia had a fun time as well.

I was at the school at 7:45am, and we got back about half an hour before school was out. What a tender mercy that I didn't have to drive. I hitched a ride with a friend of a friend. So many parents were trying to follow the buses in their own vehicles, and some of the buses went to the Lower and some went to the Upper. I couldn't keep track of which bus had Makayla in it! Not to mention that Makayla's bus drvier went the wrong way a few times and needed to make a few U turns! It was so relaxing to sit in the back and chat with one of my friends on the way there and back.

Each class had their own guide on the hike. The 5th graders were the first to start and the first to finish. I learned a lot, and enjoyed walking on the trail. The weather was nice too!

Makayla thought this blooming manzanita was beautiful, and wanted me to take a picture of it. None of the pictures do the scenery justice! I would have loved to spend the entire day taking pictures of the beautiful flowers, and nature!

Can you believe it, we hiked to the top of the rock formation in the background, with a class of 5th graders?! Makayla's a trooper. The hike was 3 miles round trip. After school she had tennis for 30 minutes, over at the All Sports park, (it was a special 3 day after school activity) which she walked to from the school with Mr. VanDelden, and some other students. She ended the night with soccer practice!! Even after all of that the little rascal STILL didn't fall right to sleep!
