In the mean time

Although our inspection and appraisal for our house are still not even scheduled, putting our progress in getting our homes closed on hold, our lives certainly are not! (And sometimes, when I forget why we're even going through this seemingly no end in sight process, I look at the pictures of the house from my last post, just to remember the end goal in mind!)

I forget where I went, but Jason was home, and when I came back I was greeted with this sight! Actually, this picture was taken after some clean up had happened!Although Makayla, Malia and Jared were just around the wall, playing the computer, apparently, Derek was creating this mess quite silently.

I followed the trail of tiny footprints in the powdered sugar into the kitchen, across the sugar covered chair cushion, which was on the chair that had been pulled up next to the oven. In the middle of a powdered sugar covered stove top was where I found Derek standing, covered in a layer of powdered sugar from head to toe. He was preparing to get into a bag of mini-marshmallows. When I asked what he was doing, he told me he was hungry.
Our fourth of July was really fun. The Saturday before we really wore ourselves out! One of the things we did was go to a local park, and hit some tennis balls.

This past Saturday was our ward Relief Society's Super Saturday, "Christmas in July". Have I mentioned what a wonderful husband I have?!! I was gone from around 9:30am-3:30pm!! Lunch was even provided! I just brought some cookies that I'd made the day before. The kids really have been sweet, I just needed a change of pace, scenery, and a very long break, I guess.

I learned how to make this bag. An added plus, was I got my friend who was teaching almost all to myself! I was so excited to work for so long, and actually have something tangible to show for it!! (Probably not the best mentality...I think all of the invisible work, especially around the house, sometimes catches up to me!!)It only cost me the thread, and some pins, because I had to run to the store to pick up some more. Jason packed up the bulk of my sewing supplies. By the time I realized what was happening, I hid the rest, because I'm always needing to mend, alter, or patch up something! I did dig the container of fabric out of our storage unit though.

It was such a fun afternoon with some of the sisters in our ward. Being together, creating, was so therapeutic!! I'm so glad that Jason realized just how much I needed this!! I wish I could have done all of the crafts, but being such a slow poke, the bag took me the entire time. I love it though, and Makayla and Malia have placed orders for bags of their own!

Some friends of ours are out of town, and are letting us watch their pet mice for them! The kids are really enjoying this. The only complaint Jason has is the little wheel was squeaking a lot of the night while the mice ran in it!! Looks like we'll have to get out the WD-40. Didn't think about the negatives of housesitting nocturnal animals!

Really, life is good. I can't remember where I heard this phrase, but I agree, "These are days, never to be forgotten".

Wish that house closing would hurry up!!! Hmmm - seems to me Malia got in much more trouble over her flour fiasco than Derek seems to have gotten into over his powdered sugar mess!! We might have to start calling him King Derek - right, Queen Katie?!! :) Cute bag, Suzy! Good job. Isn't it amazing what you can get done when you have just a bit of time all to yourself with no little "good helpers"!! Waiting patiently :) for our time to play together.
