Just a little flashback! This was when Makayla was about Malia's age! She's with one of her cousins, Jessica, my sister, Miriam's daughter. So sad I couldn't find super recent pictures of Makayla, hmmm, I will have to rectify that! Malia wanted the boys and I to come to their Holiday lunch at school. It was on a day that Jared didn't have school. She patiently waited to play on the playground while Jared took pretty much her whole recess finishing his meal. She didn't mind. What a sweetie! She was just so excited we were there! Derek was so thrilled to play on the playground with all the big kids!

Malia also had her Christmas program at school. She has been singing the music around the house, and practicing her lines.
Yesterday, the girls and I were invited to see the Nutcracker Ballet with some friends, mostly from church. It was so fun. I was so worried about forgetting our goody plates, and that the phone would run out of batteries, that I left it plugged in, as we headed out the door to go to our friend's house for yummy treats before the show.

It was Malia's first time seeing the Nutcracker. Makayla was four years old the last time we went. She wore this super cute white lacy, frilly full skirted dress, and cowboy boots. Everyone thought she was the cutest thing ever! I'd been asking the girls for years if they'd like to go, but they said no. What changed their minds? The invite from some friends. There were 32 in our group. Because we had almost two rows reserved for our group, when we got to where our seats were, the girls had friends on either side of them. You can sit down there, Mom, they told me as they pointed to the complete opposite side of the row. It was a little bittersweet, but from the looks of it only the youngest attendees were sitting by their moms.
One of the ladies there is the Mom of two girls. One attends North with Makayla, and her other daughter was in Malia's class, before they moved her up to the fifth grade. She told me she was so sorry she only knew to identify me as Malia's Mom. I told her I didn't mind. We exchanged names, and I told her if she couldn't remember my name, I would happily respond to Malia's Mom. :)
Meanwhile the boys went swimming.
It makes me so sad to think that before long my girls won't be girls anymore. Makayla measured in at 5 foot 1 the other day. She did quite the celebratory dance, and was so excited as we stood back to back... Malia is wearing some of the clothes I remember Makayla wearing, not that long ago...
That's probably why I love taking pictures of the kiddos, nonstop. Then I have evidence that they were ever that little! They're so big now, I forget how small they used to be! And they get more and more fun all the time. I sure love my girls! (And of course, my boys)!

Oh man Suzy! They are getting so big! I still remember our little Makayla baby, and spunky little girl. And I remember the day you were having Malia and Jason didn't think you needed to get to the hospital yet. And I remember coming down to visit right after you had Jared - he was so sweet and so little - and Makayla was just in kindergarten. And now there's Derek too! Where has the time gone?!
Ditto to all of the above! I remember our crazy day when Makayla was born - locking keys in the car we were trying to drive down to Provo - Katie & Natalie studying for finals while we waited. The good news is they are just as sweet big girls as they were little ones! :)
