My patriarchal blessing says that my children will be a credit to me, but I feel like they are wonderful inspite of me!! They came to us with these sparkling personalities, so bright, and talented! They came to us, shining already! I am truly blessed, and they usually are the ones to teach me!!
Makayla's conferences were a little different. We were supposed to set those up ourselves. There was a note sent home that they would be 7 minute sessions we were signing up for. Well she has seven different teachers. I wasn't sure that I could get seven consecutive times, to find a sitter...One friend suggested only setting up ones with teachers you had questions for, or concerns with. I asked Makayla if there were any teachers she wanted me to meet with. She said no, (Her 1st quarter report card she had straight A's, :)) so I didn't set up any at all. Later, another friend said her husband just goes to the office, and one of the secretaries tells him he can stop by and see the teachers, if they're not meeting with anyone.
When the kids got back to school, Jared was the star of the week. He came home with a sweet book that his classmates made. Some made me giggle, and some melted my heart. The note from his teacher, Mrs. Thompson says, "Jared, You are very special to us. You have a kind, helpful heart and you work hard :)! I am so happy you are in my class." Here are a few highlights.

Can you guess who this last picture is of? Jared drew it one day while he was home from school. It's Jared and I! (Or is it Jared and me? Oh well). Makes my eyes water, cute boy!
I came across this quote from Neal A. Maxwell in a catalog, and it has just stuck with me, and cause me to self-evaluate, "We should certainly count our blessings, but we should also make our blessings count."
What a wonderful time of year to really make our blessings count!

What a sweet boy! I like his picture and how he said he's part of a great family. You are right- we are lucky to have these shining, special children!
