Last Saturday was our boys' last swim lesson from Kasey, at least for awhile. Jason wanted me to take some video of the boys, especially for Grandma and Grandpa.
The first one is Jared's backstroke, honestly, I don't know the name of the second stroke in the second clip (from my description, Makayla thinks it's the breaststroke), and the last one is of Derek before his lesson.
Sadly I think Derek takes after me in regards to swimming. On the stairs, he is pretty brave, and comfortable. When he's in the pool with someone, he becomes more tense and a little fearful. He doesn't want them to let go of him completely.
However, I see so much improvement with him. Last spring when I started Mommy and Me lessons with him, thinking it would be more of a refresher before we got him into regular swim lessons, he would scream, thrash, and have a vice like death grip on me when I would try to have him float on his back. Before he'd go under the water, he'd shake his head and say no, before I'd have him go under anyway...it was not fun for either of us. So, to see him with Kasey, especially on Saturday so much more calm, not quite ready to do everything on his own yet, but with time, and more practice I think he'll get there. It was a small victory for us.

What great little fishies you have! Jared - I am so so so impressed! You did an amazing job! Derek - I am so proud of you for working at something that is a little hard and scary! Keep at it because grandma thinks swimming is one of the most fun things in the world -especially at the beach!! Hope I get to see your skills this summer! :)
What good swimmers! I am so impressed! I understand how Derek feels, too, but he'll be a better swimmer than me in no time! I sure wish these guys could get together and swim with their cousins- they'd have a blast!
