Per Jason's request, yummy pizza, presents and a movie! He actually got to enjoy his present from G&G before I did! (Fortunately for him, I was way too busy to attempt to take my turn prematurely) :) Once he had a quiet moment, he had a hard time putting it down! He's already finished it! Our girls are itching to get their turns, but Jason wants me to okay it before we let Makayla have a turn, and if there's even a chance for Malia.
There's not a picture of the cake. The birthday boy asked for a cake he saw in a magazine. I warned him, I would do my best, but not to be disappointed if it didn't look anything like the picture.
Despite following the directions...the frosting was SO runny... :( There was supposed to be ribbons of carrots, that look like ribbons on the round present, with carrots shaped like curling ribbon on top. I did try, but the carrots we had weren't as thick as I thought...so, he ended up having a round two layer cake, with more like a super thick glazy cream cheese frosting...anyway, I feel like the flavor made up for the lack of the magazine like looks! :) He was a good sport about it.
While making rice krispy treats for my Primary class, the kiddos got to enjoy their second treat with the bunny cookie cutter! The bunny shaped sugar goodies were a hit too! Thanks G&G! (Lovely dress of a soccer uniform... she is wearing shorts under, promise!)
After a Saturday of soccer games and a t-ball game, it was time to dye Easter eggs. Derek was very concerned, he did not want any eggs to die! :) We explained, we're just painting them.
He cracked me up! Derek kept talking about his happy little eggs. Jason asked him how he knew they were happy. Derek pointed to one that had fallen on the floor and was extremely cracked and explained that he was a sad little egg, and afterward said that his sad little egg will be happier inside of his tummy. So he peeled it and ate it.
Sunday morning the kids were so excited to see what the Easter Bunny left. I was worn out from Saturday and especailly unexpected Saturday night preperations, I forgot to get out the camera.
Saturday before dying eggs, while we were eating our late lunch, early dinner, the girls for the first time, expressed some hopes for the next morning. Makayla hoped the Easter Bunny would bring her a book, like he did last year. Malia followed that with the hope that she would get a cookies and cream flavored bunny... :/
Saturday afternoon we were invited to share Easter dinner with some friends in our ward. We were going to have our own egg hunt after we got the ham in the oven, but our friends invited us to share in their egg hunt too! Naturally, I forgot to bring my camera!
It was so much fun, and the meal was delicious!!
I was wishing this morning that this week would've been Spring Break, but, oh well! :)

Holidays are always so busy for Mommies! We just do our best! What you may have lacked in quantity in pictures you made up for in quality! Such cute pictures of Grandma's sweethearts!! How we love them! Very entertaining as well! Your frosting was probably runny because of your Oregon humidity! Just add more sugar or less liquid next time. We have the opposite problem here - things tend to be too stiff and dry! I think carrot curls are so hard to make unless you have found the precisely right peeler! Yikes!! You were brave to try! I can't get over how your skills have improved over the years! Don't be so hard on yourself - I have had some pretty good disasters myself. Hence the Hatt Cooking Hall of Fame! :) It's better to laugh about it than to cry!!! Love all my cute Oregon kiddos and Happy Birthday Jason!!
