My four treasures. One day Malia overheard me calling Derek my newest treasure and asked if that made her an old rusty one.
Malia was sad that she didn't get to have cupcakes at school with her class on her birthday.
She felt pretty special when she got to continue to celebrate the next day when she came home from school with a special crown. Being the kind big sis that she is she let Jared share in the birthday glory, since his is so close.

I'm still learning how to decorate cakes :). So when Malia said for her 6th birthday she wanted one that had 5 layers, roses, and the look of a wedding cake, I tried to tell her I'd do my best, but she probably wouldn't get 5 layers, or roses, and it might not look anything like the cake she imagined... she still wanted me to try. Despite the many hiccups, Malia didn't seem to mind. I must confess after doing Jared's cake just two days before I was feeling a little overwhelmed! January 4th (Jared's birthday) and January 5th (Malia's birthday) come pretty quickly after Christmas. After 3 years of this, I still haven't ironed out all the kinks! For 2 years, 1 birthday after Christmas was doable. Jared came into our lives 1 day before Malila turned 3. (Fortunately Jason's mom and one of his sisters were there to help me weather that crisis!) Oh, well! I sure love them both!
Thanks everyone!
Jared's 3rd birthday was a lot of fun. Because he's so enamored with killer whales and marine life, we're excited to go to Sea World when we visit Nana and Papa for Spring Break!

Suzy your cake skills are impressive!! I love them both - very cute!! Besides the stress of making 2 cakes - you have the job of eating all that cake!! Good thing you have plenty of hungry helpers - huh!!
