This weekend my Mom and I jetted up to Portland for Time Out for Women. Jason, my gem, took the day off work and stayed with the kids!
Friday we were able to go to the Pittock Mansion. I thought of Katie and her family visiting Newport, and imagined Mom Hatt living a gilded life!
We had some lunch (I'd been wanting Chinese food), grabbed some snacks, took it easy for a few hours and attended the evening portion of Time Out for Women.
It was incredible! We got to hear from Ardeth Kapp, Michael McLean, see Reflections of Christ by Mark Mabry, and hear him tell us about the experience. We got to do some shopping in the "bookstore" there in the Exhibit Hall also. We laughed, we cried, we were uplifted! I was also happily surprised by all of the familiar faces I saw!
Saturday was more of the same. This time with Hilary Weeks, S. Michael Wilcox, Mariama Kallon, Emily Watts and more yummy food. We had to get to the airport before it was over, but it was awesome!!
I was reminded again how generous, funny, smart, easy going, beautiful, and just how great my Mom is and how FUN she is to be with!
Jason and the kids got to enjoy a lot of fishing. He and the boys caught dinner Friday night.
I was surprised at how much I missed and thought about them while I was gone! It was ever present "background music". I was reminded of how truly blessed I am and priveledged to have them in my life.
It was such a good reminder that family truly is EVERYTHING!
It's funny, when Malia found out where I was going, she asked, "You're going to time out? Were you bad?" :)

Oh my gosh! That sounds so fun! I just wish I was in Portland so I could have gone with you. Isn't Pittock mansion fun. Imagine it at Christmastime! :) What a fun weekend for you and your mom!
What a fun thing for you and your Mom! A well - deserved break for such a busy Mom!!! It's amazing though that as nice as it is to get away - it is so nice to come home again!! Glad you had such a special time together! :)
How fun!! I'm glad you got to have a little "time out" :-) with your Mom. Those breaks make mommyhood better for everyone :-)
