Driving by at 70 mph

Jared and Malia heading down to the bus stop which is down the street and a smidgen to the left. They look so little in such a big world!!

The two skeletons make me smile. Years ago we had a lone skeleton. Makayla brought him home from school when they learned about the skeleton. It was just in time for Halloween, and went up on our front door. I think it was last year, Malia, having had the same teacher, brought a skeleton home and was sad that Makayla's was up, and not hers. We put up hers. Malia wanted them to be sisters, and to have their arms around each other. As we drive up the road it looks like a two headed four armed creature- perfect for Halloween, huh?

It also makes me giggle. We were talking to one of our next door neighbors this weekend. He commented that he noticed our Halloween decorations. I mentioned that the girls brought them home from school a few years ago. He said when his wife saw them, she told him they had to get their decorations out too. :)

Jared loves his spider shirt.

Derek was chewing on the sleeve of his shirt (an annoying habit he's picked up). We're hoping he'll earn it back, and then we can take a picture. Makayla was too shy to get her picture taken in her new shirt when she wore it to school.

We got Boo-ed last night. This is a sampling of the fare we took to two unsuspecting friends' houses tonight.

Makayla's "new" dresser, I finally have been able to do a little garage saling! Did I do okay?

And, to the title of the post. A few years back I had made the cushions on our rocking chair out of a few couch cushions from our old olive green sleeper couch. I attempted to cover them myself. I'm a novice at sewing, and a friend of mine noticed my project. I warned her not to look too closely, because of all of the flaws. She told me something to the effect of, if it looks good driving by at 70 mph, then it's fine. :) I LOVE that perspecitve. I've adopted that mantra as I've sewn curtains for a few of our windows. (I STILL have some empty curtain rods!!) So, as you look at these pictures of the curtains, kindly do so, driving by at 70 mph! :)

Jason really wanted sheers for all of our windows. Well, I couldn't find decently priced ones for the sizes of our windows, so I made these. The ones by the computer cost $3! :) The ones for the large window in our empty living room cost a little under $30!

I had been wanting to make it a little easier for the girls to play on the bottom floor of the dollhouse. The house Jason made is really heavy. I've been having a hard time find something sturdy enough to handle it. It's a smidgen too short, but I found this table at a garage sale too!

One of these days I'm planning on finishing the curtains for all of the dollhouse windows... ah, another one of the projects on my inexhaustible list of projects, and things to buy, for the house, of course! :) Muwah ha ha!

In addition to trying to get the girls' and my costumes together, and everyday life, I feel like these past few weeks have flown by, about like driving at 70mph!!

I love getting glimpses into your new house - so fun!! It's awesome that you can pretty much watch the kids get to the bus stop from your front door! :) Love the pictures of the kids in their Halloween shirts. Well -just love those kids - the shy one and the shirt sleeve chewer too!! :) Love the sister skeletons - makes me giggle! I had one of those back in the day too! I just got my Halloween decorations out yesterday! Our weather turned colder and i thought wow-it is time! Great job on the dresser, table for the dollhouse and curtains! You are awesome! It's amazing the things we learn how to do out of necessity!

Your new house is gorgeous, and I love what you're doing with it. I also like hearing about your family traditions (the skeleton is priceless) and how fun your kids are. Happy Fall, my friend! Looks like it will be a good one!

I must admit the title freaked me out, especially with the picture of the kids walking. That just wasn't nice!!! Glad I assumed the worst! Halloween is fun with kids. Too cute, and I thought you did a great job on your projects. I spared you the extreme zoom that I like to do on the pictures with the kids. You are welcome! :) I'm sure it would have been just great though! Love you!
