Halloween Come and Gone!

The kids enjoyed being the ones to draw the different features on the pumpkin.
Miss Makayla also wanted to carve her feature. We reminded her there was a reason that that was Dad's job. We did allow her to bake the pumpkin seeds with minimal supervision.

Yesterday we had a very late lunch. Derek informed me he wasn't hungry for the soup I made. So, I ate lunch by myself. When I came back to put the unfinished soup away, I see this...Silly boy!

After having our ward Halloween party and trunk-or-treat on the 21st, I kept thinking Halloween was over. Silly Mommy!

Surprisingly, our night really opened up, in not a lot of time. Soccer practices were cancelled, I didn't have to go clean at KZ, and Jason surprised us by coming home in the afternoon! It was wonderful!! For a while I was concerned that there wouldn't be much time to take the kids out to trick-or-treat with everything I thought we would have going on!

I promise, our "maid" had the day off! I don't know why she's so unhappy!

Derek loved being, "an inja", like his Daddy! Jason was able to wear his costume to work, and bring yummy goodies he made Sunday night.

Makayla was invited to meet at the home of a friend from school, (whom she met playing soccer with awhile back), enjoy some shared goodies (fortunately Jason made enough for us to bring), and go trick-or-treating, with several other families. We were included in the invitation as well. When I went to pick Makayla up from school yesterday afternoon, Makayla told me how excited Kameron, (whose family was hosting), was that we were coming. Makayla really enjoyed trick-or-treating with Kameron, as well as another girl her age. The three were inseparable.

Last night was such a confirmation of what a wide range of developement and maturity our children are! It was bittersweet. It's fun doing more grown-up things with Makayla and watching her do more and more on her own, but it's sad to be reminded of how little time I have left, before she'll be around less and less! Sigh.

We're still practicing taking pictures with our phone, (still no sign of the battery charger) so they're a little out of focus, but hopefully we'll get it mastered soon!

How is it already November 1st?!

What cute costumes!! Mom and Dad included!! I know what you mean about the age differences- it's so hard to juggle everything and feel like everyone is getting enough attention!

Yes, please send that adorable maid this way! She looks too cute. Jordan would love to play pirates with Makayla.... we found a little pirate set at the dollar store and he has been dressed in it non-stop since. The knight and ninjas look awesome too! What a fun Halloween!
